Hot From The Press.

Hi there,

Three of my photographs have been published in the fishing magazine North Australian Fishing & Outdoors.

Hot from the press.

This is in this very magazine , the May/June/July 2012 issue.

You may have already seen the photos in one of my previous post on this blog.

The Stonefish story.

The story was also posted on the FFF forum, where the editor of the magazine, Matt Flynn, saw them, and asked me if he could have them for the magazine...
I said yes even before thinking about it.
This was an opportunity to join two of my passion in one go: photography and fishing.
It might sounds childish to some of you, but for me to see some of my photographs in a fishing magazine, is like a kid's dream happening in real life.

And I will also soon have another very cool story to tell you about this magazine...
But you will have to wait a little bit more before anything transpire...
And after all patience is every angler best asset.
Sorry but you will just have to kill a bit of time, and you will soon know.

But hey, it could be worse.
Have a good day,
Me.

I Was In A Fishing Magazine.

Hi there,

Two photos of me practicing the noble art of angling have been published in a fishing magazine. On one of the images, you can see me still in the heat of the action, bringing a Barramundi to the net. In the other one, it is the more classic "bragging pic", where I proudly hold my catch.
The magazine is nothing else than the very good North Australian Fishing & Outdoors.
My favourite fishing magazine, as it is about the only one that issue after issues is relevant to someone fishing in Darwin.

Here is the Magazine:

In this very issue.

In both photographs I am wearing the fishing shirt that Colin, the boss of Reidy's lures had given me as a present. In the first photo, I am also actually catching a fish with a lure made by Reidy's, called The Judge.
And here it is:

A very focused Rambling Expat.

In this image, the Barramundi was just about to jump out of the water and make a last run before being netted.

And now, lets brag:

Look at that!

In fact it is not the same fish than in the previous image, it is from another day, but still with my lucky shirt.
Both fishes were caught during the Top End Barra Series last year.
The first at the mouth of the Adelaid River, in Arrabmundi's boat. The second one in Darwin harbour, from Dingo's boat.

I did not send any of the photos to the magazine, but I suspect that Dingo, one of the organisers of the Top End Barra series has sent the images.
This was a good and amusing surprise for me when I purchased the magazine.

And yes I know, in none of these photographs I am holding a metre plus Barramundi...
The Metery club hasn't open it's doors to me yet.

But hey, it could be worse.
Have a good day,
Me.

Two of my photos in the Fish Finder book.

Hi there,

Yes I have two of my photos published in a fishing book.
And the book in question is nothing less than the famous Fish Finder (presently in it's ninth edition). The Fish Finder book is produced by the same people who run the excellent FFF forum of which I am a passionate member.

The North Australian Fish Finder.

The fish finder is known by many in the Northern Territory of Australia as the "barra bible".
For all the great tips on how and where to bag a Barramundi.
But in fact it is packed of very useful information on how to catch many different species of fishes, being in a boat or land based, in the salt or fresh water. With GPS points and photographs of many hot spots, and what techniques work where.
In fact to be honest with you, and I am not paid to write it, since I bought the edition number 8, my fishing has greatly improved.

The current edition was released in May 2011.
And slow me just realised yesterday that I had two photos in it.
When a work colleague brought the book at work and showed it to me, by chance just at the page where my photos are printed. (Thanks Gavin).
It's on page 157.

Pages 156 and 157.

Now, over the years, I already had a few photos published here and there, but never in a fishing book.
Trust me, when I saw my 2 littles photos in the Fish Finder, it really made my day.
Photography and fishing are two of the things that I enjoy the most in life. To see them united together on a page of this book made me very happy.

Because you are very lucky, I will show you the two photos that were published in this book:

The one at the top of the page.

The one at the bottom of the page.

If you want more information about these photographs, you can search through this very blog, where they have been posted in the past, or get your hands on the book.
I will just tell you that the guys on the images are two of my fishing buddies: Sarrge and Sheeby. How nice is that? First I was just happy to see my pix in the book, and then I realised that it is some of my friends on them.

Yes, it is true that this is only two little photographs inside of a big book. Not even the front page of it...

But hey, it could be worse.
Have a good day,
Me.
